When we left NICU with our premature baby George we were given some baby first aid training by one of his nurses. Its a great idea for new parents to have some life saving skills to leave hospital with and we all hope and pray we never have to use those skills.
Fast forward ten months and my friends from my ante-natal group suggested we do a first aid training course together. Having been on a playdate a few weeks earlier when one of the baby girls was choking on a stone, we saw first hand how quick things can turn nasty. We all agreed a date, a dish and a desert to bring and my friend hosted at her lovely home.
Spending the day together with friends, in a lovely home whilst our trainer Sue from Up and Running talked us through video presentations, demonstrations and literature it was the best way of learning. Being close friends we were able to have so much fun and laughed through most of the day. Being assessed and told you are now an able first aider was so rewarding and though I am yet to receive my certificate and badge...I have started to make a superhero rescue cape for myself! JPH-H
